10.00â Lace Week open yards and yard sales
Several residents of Old Rauma will open their yards to the visitors during Lace Week. The residents will hold yard sales or allow visitors to explore their yards and the livelihood in Old Rauma.
Yards open for visitors can be identified on the spot by the logo of the Old Rauma Association.
Note! The yards are open according to the resident’s schedule, usually starting at 10.00.

During Lace Week you have an opportunity to see Rauma bobbin lace being made daily at Marela and Kirsti. At Marela, the lace-maker is indoors. At Kirsti, on clear days, the lace-maker is in the courtyard, where you can visit free of charge. Otherwise there is admission fee.

Kosti the Fox is back for more adventures in Rauma Art Museumâs courtyard during Lace Week!
Kosti has been seen going into the art museum’s courtyard, but not since. Your task is to put the clues together and find where Kosti the Fox is hiding! The hunt begins from Rauma Art Museum Shop Pinnala. Once you have found Kosti’s location, you can get a sweet prize from the shop!

11.00 Guided tour at Sammallahdenmäki
The UNESCO World Heritage Site Sammallahdenmäki is a Bronze Age burial site set amidst beautiful forest nature. Along the trail that winds through the area, there are 36 different burial cairns. Duration approximately 1,5 hours and is 2 kilometers long.
Note! Prepare according to weather conditions and with good shoes. The site is not accessible and the terrain can be rough to walk on at times.

All lace makers are welcome to come and lace their own works at the event. The Lace Center Emelia offers coffee and buns for the lace makers participating in the event.

đ11.00â17.00 Explore maritime professions! -orienteering for children (FIN)
The sea offers a variety of jobs, and at the orienteering checkpoints, five maritime professions are presented: pilot, fisherman, chief engineer, ship cook, and captain. The guide booklet explains the professions, and at the checkpoints, playful tasks are carried out that in some way relate to the profession shown.
Orienteering is included in the admission fee of 5 âŹ. Children under 12 for free with an adult.

During Lace Week, children can pick up an activity sheet at the museumâs front desk. Valo the sailor guides families to various learning points marked on a map. Along the way, theyâll dive into Valoâs life and work aboard a sailing ship. The activity sheet is available in both Finnish and English.

The event opens with a family-friendly mini-play, The Growling Rabbit. The play is non-verbal, making it perfect for international visitors and the hearing impaired.
After the play, meet Luna and Rebecca, the newest llama residents of Old Rauma. The event also features Kyllikki Salo’s art installation Me Too and a courtyard flea market. Refreshments and llama-themed cookies will be available for purchase. Duration of the event approximately 1 hour.

11.30 Guided tour of Old Rauma
Walking is the best way to sense the atmosphere of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Old Rauma and to notice its magnificent details. The guided tour takes place on foot, led by a guide in the beautiful Old Rauma. The guide leads the group through narrow and winding alleys, telling the history and present-day significance of this culturally and historically valuable area. The journey delves into the culture and past times of Rauma, to the neighborhoods of sailors and craftsmen. Duration 1,5 hours.
Tour is both in Finnish and English.

12.00â18.00 Maritime handicrafts at Merimakasiini
Rope master Mikko Snellman makes traditional rope from natural fibers. Visitors can also make their own rope from natural fiber threads. There is also a rope machine made of wood that is easy for children to use. Rope making demonstrations from 13.00 onward hourly.
Sailmakers and volunteers from the Maritime Historical Society braid rope mats and sew tarps and sailor bags using traditional sail sewing methods. Visitors can also try making a trivet for a 5 ⏠material fee. Blacksmith Seppo Hannula works in the yard. Rope crafts and sailor handicrafts are for sale.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Rauma Maritime Museum. Entrance fee for the presentation of Merimakasiini facilities is 5 âŹ. Free for children under 12 when accompanied by an adult.

A work combining contemporary dance and installation art about power and water. The water flowing in the drainage basin comes mainly from rain, but also includes meltwater from the previous winter, water from melting glaciers, and springs formed from groundwater. Duration approximately 30 minutes.

The women’s quartet Muruset, which is part of the church music activities of the Turku Orthodox Parish, performs a vigil collection composed by Janne Salmenkangas for female voices, which is based on the Valamo singing tradition. Duration approximately 30 minutes.
