When is the Lace Week held in 2026?
In 2026 the Lace Week takes place from 18.7. to 26.7.
How can I travel to the islands?
There is waterbus connection to islands during summer season 1.6.–31.8. Waterbus timetables for summer can be found on the Rauman Saaristokuljetus website.
The islands can be reached by a taxi boat as well. Check the boat taxi service providers.
Is Old Rauma an accessible site?
Arriving in Old Rauma is effortless even for individuals with physical restrictions. Free parking space can be found right by the old town area year round. The Savila parking lot by the Rauma Tourist Information (Savilankatu 8), among others, is equipped with parking spots for the disabled. Some streets are closed from traffic during the walking street time in the summer, but passage to the market square parking lot is still open outside the street market time.
Majority of the streets in Old Rauma are easily accessible. Some narrow cobblestone streets and curbs can bring difficulties, but the evenly coated pedestrian streets on the sides of most streets make moving around easier. During winter, a snowmelt system keeps the streets free of snow.
As a historic site, the old town area is for the most part not accessible by its buildings. Entrance to many houses includes steep stone steps or doorways with a high step. However, a large number of places have an accessible entrance on their courtyard, or their staff is ready to help with portable ramps. There are also some completely accessible shops, cafés and restaurants in Old Rauma. You can ask for more details from the Rauma tourist information officers.
Among cultural attractions, The Church of the Holy Cross is accessible. Rauma Art Museum has an accessible entrance through their courtyard. Merimakasiini venue by the Rauma Maritime Museum is mainly accessible, and an accessible entrance to the museum itself will be built at the end of year 2026. Where can I buy postcards?
The museum shop at home museum Marela (Kauppakatu 24) offers an extensive selection of Rauma-themed postcards. The Town Service Point Pyyrman (Valtakatu 2) has a small selection of postcards for sale. Many shops in Old Rauma sell postcards as well.
Where can I see bobbin lace in Rauma?
The lace shop Pits-Priia (Kauppakatu 29) offers a chance to explore Rauma lace, buy lace products and see bobbin lace making. Marela museum shop (Kauppakatu 24) offers a small selection of bobbin lace products.
Where can I find the nearest ATM to get cash when visiting Old Rauma?
The nearest ATMs are located in Kauppakatu 1 (Osuuspankki) and Nortamonkatu 10 (shopping centre Wänni).
Where are the public toilets located?
A public toilet can be found at the market place, opposite to R-Kioski. Next to the Tourist Information Office (Savilankatu 8) are public toilets, also accessible toilet.
Where should I park my car when visiting Old Rauma?
There are four parking places near Old Rauma. The parking places are located by the Church of the Holy Cross (Luostarinkatu 1) and along streets Eteläkatu, Savilankatu and Kaunisjärvenkatu. The parking place along Savilankatu is asphalted, and the parking places along Eteläkatu, Kaunisjärvenkatu and next to the Church of the Holy Cross are gravel pitches. There are some parking spaces with time restrictions around Old Rauma. Remember to use a parking disc!
Where is the grocery store?
Rauma has two hypermarkets, Citymarket and Prisma. They locate almost next to each other. Smaller grocery stores can be found all over Rauma. Right in the city centre you will find Sale on Kalliokatu street.
Where can I charge my electric car in Rauma?
In the Rauma city center area, electric car charging stations can be found at the following locations (among others):
Savilanpuisto parking area, Savilankatu 10, has a total of spaces for two (2) cars.
Harmaidenveljesten parking area, Tallikedonkatu 13, has a total of spaces for two (2) cars.
Kauppakeskus Wänni, Nortamonkatu 10: has a total of spaces for four (4) cars.
Prisma parking area, Porintie 4, has a total of spaces for eight (8) cars.
Prisma parking area, Porintie 4, has a total of spaces for eight (8) cars.
Citymarket parking area, Karjalankatu 5, has a total of spaces for six (6) cars.
ABC Talliketo, Tallikedonkatu 8, has a total of spaces for four (4) cars.
Additionally, for example, ABC Kortela, Unajantie 2, offers a total of spaces for eight (8) cars.
