Lace-making is based on two movements with the bobbins, crossing and twisting. Combinations of these moves are called strokes.
Technique
To make lace, you need a mynsteri (lace pattern) with holes and outlines. The holes are where the pins are placed and the lines show the path of the thread pairs in the lace.
This course website has been implemented as part of the ‘Äärest Viäre’ project, which has received a grant from the Finnish National Agency for Education. The project involved the Rauma Adult Education Centre, the Pyhäjärviseutu Adult Education Centre, Rauma Museum, the Rauma unit of the Turku Department of Teacher Education, Nyplääjät ry and Pitsikeskus Emilia.
