Lace Week offers lots of fun activities for children and families! On this page, we have put together events that are particularly suitable for families with children. The same events can also be found in the Lace Week daily program.


Non-stop activities for children
10.00–17.00 Kosti the Fox’s treasure hunt
Kosti the Fox is back for more adventures in Rauma Art Museum’s courtyard during Lace Week!
Kosti has been seen going into the art museum’s courtyard, but not since. Your task is to put the clues together and find where Kosti the Fox is hiding! The hunt begins from Rauma Art Museum Shop Pinnala. Once you have found Kosti’s location, you can get a sweet prize from the shop!
The treasure hunt is self-guided and free of charge.

11.00–17.00 Traveling with Valo – Children’s tour at Maritime Museum
During Lace Week, children can pick up an activity sheet at the museum’s front desk. Valo the sailor guides families to various learning points marked on a map. At these stations, children can try out, touch, draw, create, play, and explore. Along the way, they’ll dive into Valo’s life and work aboard a sailing ship. The activity sheet is available in both Finnish and English.

The event opens with a family-friendly mini-play, The Growling Rabbit . The play is non-verbal, making it perfect for international visitors and the hearing impaired.
After the play, meet Luna and Rebecca, the newest llama residents of Old Rauma. The event also features Kyllikki Salo’s art installation Me Too and a courtyard flea market. Refreshments and llama-themed cookies will be available for purchase. Duration of the event approximately 1 hour.

10.00 & 11.00 Teddys adventures at sea – music time for children (FIN)
Children can make music in a cheerful maritime atmosphere by singing, dancing and rhythmizing together with your guardian in the Tammela yard in atmospheric Old Rauma.
10 €, adults free of charge. Duration 40 minutes. 30-40 children and adults can attend in one music school session. You cannot leave your child unattended at the musical school.

13.00 The mystery of Old Rauma – an interactive tour for children (FIN)
One day, something strange happened in Old Rauma. To solve the mystery, clever young detectives are needed! Using clues gathered during the tour, they’ll work to find out who is responsible. Could the mischievous lace town elves be behind it all? The story is fictional, but during the guided tour participants will also explore the charming details of Old Rauma and learn a little about its history and present day.
Tour duration approx. 1 hour and it covers about 1 km. The route is not entirely accessible, but you can get around with a stroller.
The tour is designed for children aged 4–11, but everyone is welcome to join. Children must be accompanied by their own adult.

Ahoy! A tour for sailors and adventurers on dry land through the alleys of Old Rauma. The sea glistens, ship masts appear on the horizon, and nets are being repaired in the yards, but not everything is as it should be right now. A shipment of lumber has gone missing—and something else as well. Let’s look for clues and discover maritime artifacts and stories while learning about real historical facts.
Guided tour for children ages 4–10. Children must be accompanied by an adult. One adult may accompany multiple children.

At the family event, Duo Tuija Rantalainen and Guard Dog Veikko will perform. The park has pony rides, face painting, and a flower crown workshop. Park games and giant soap bubbles. Treats are available at the Rauma Latu buffet. In the park, moving happens along the gravel paths and lawns.

13.00 The magical sailing of the ship dog – guided tour (FIN)
The guided tour is based on Margaret Wise Brown’s original work The Sailor Dog (1953, republished in 1981). The book was published in Finnish as Laivakoira, translated by Marjatta Kurenniemi, as part of the Tammen kultaiset kirjat series. Garth Williams’ colorful illustrations take the dog Turre along to a sailing ship, a shipwreck, a distant island, and finally happily back home.
The guidance is for children aged 3-6 years. A maximum of 20 children/group. The duration of the guidance is 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the group.
Guided tours are included in the museum’s 5 € admission fee. If a child must be accompanied, the adult taking care of them can join the tour free of charge. If they stay in the museum after the tour, the adult must pay for their own ticket at the museum’s cashier.

Welcome to a child-friendly Ghost Tour of Old Rauma, where you’ll hear thrilling ghost stories! Finland’s third oldest town, with centuries-old houses in this UNESCO World Heritage site holds many secrets. This ghost tour is based on stories and real experiences shared by locals. In which house do the furniture mysteriously move by themselves? Where can you hear footsteps and knocking sounds?
The tour lasts approximately 1 hour and covers about 1,5 kilometers. Children cannot participate alone, they must be accompanied by an adult. The tour is designed for children aged 7–12, but everyone is welcome to join. Maximum group size is 30 participants.

11.00 Theatre Konna: Hyvää huomenta, Apo Apponen! (FIN)
It is just an ordinary morning in the life of Apo Apponen. Half-asleep, Apo bumps into an increasingly funny cast of characters such as Kaaro Puttila and Sinikka, the replacement head of an electric toothbrush. Apo also has to sort out his relationship with the long-hated shirt.
The events of the performance stem from the everyday life of a family with children, as Apo’s activities and bustle are familiar to all children. This slightly stand-up style performance is a tickling experience for the funny bone, for example, for preschool-aged children and younger elementary school students.

One day, something strange happened in Old Rauma. To solve the mystery, clever young detectives are needed! Using clues gathered during the tour, they’ll work to find out who is responsible. Could the mischievous lace town elves be behind it all?
The story is fictional, but during the guided tour participants will also explore the charming details of Old Rauma and learn a little about its history and present day.
The tour lasts approximately 1 hour and covers about 1 km.
The tour is designed for children aged approximately 4–11, but everyone is welcome to join. Maximum group size is 30 participants. Children cannot participate alone, each child must be accompanied by their own adult.

For ten years, the Skidit-disco has been getting people to dance on ships, in museums, on fells, and in clubs. Tens of thousands of party-goers, liters of juice boxes, and piles of songs! Welcome to a child-friendly Ghost Tour of Old Rauma, where you’ll hear thrilling ghost stories! Finland’s third oldest town, with centuries-old houses in this UNESCO World Heritage site holds many secrets. This ghost tour is based on stories and real experiences shared by locals. In which house do the furniture mysteriously move by themselves? Where can you hear footsteps and knocking sounds?
