Main street light

The street christmas lights installed above Kuninkaankatu and Kauppakatu date back to 2001. The lights, designed by architect Jukka Koivula, feature various themes that can be discovered by paying attention to the patterns at the tops of the green tree lights while walking along the street. The top patterns are designed so that the theme changes depending on the location of the light frame along the street.

The extensive Christmas light decorations in Old Rauma include light wreaths on lamp posts, the lights of the large Christmas tree in the market square, a lace light artwork projected on the wall of the Old Town Hall, and illuminated spruce garlands at the entrances of business premises.

The city of Rauma, Rauman Yrittäjät, and the Old Rauma Foundation jointly enable the beautiful Christmas-lit street scenes for those moving around the streets to enjoy. Attention has been paid to the environmental friendliness of the lighting. The lights of the fir frames were replaced with energy-efficient LED lights in 2014.

The Christmas lights of Old Rauma are traditionally lit during Rauma’s Christmas opening event and bring a warm atmosphere to Old Rauma even after the turn of the year.
