These figures are from a study on the income and employment effects of tourism in Rauma, conducted by Visitory Oy.
According to the study, the overall employment impact of tourism was substantial. Tourism directly and indirectly provided full-time employment to 244 people over the year.
– Additionally, those employed thanks to tourism earned a total of 7 million euros in direct wages, highlighting the significant role of tourism in our region’s employment and economic well-being, Villanen adds.
New calculation model used for the first time
For the first time, the regions of Satakunta, including Rauma, Pori, and Eura, were analyzed using Visitory’s method. It is important to note that this study cannot be directly compared to previous similar studies, as it was conducted using a new calculation model and method.
The study was conducted across over 40 regions in Finland and shows that tourism recovery after COVID-19 has continued. The number of domestic tourists visiting the regions has continued to grow in most of the surveyed areas, especially in larger cities. Day-trip tourism numbers were generally declining. The impact of Russia’s war of aggression is still evident in the number of foreign tourists, especially in Eastern Finland.
Visitory Oy is a research company specializing in tourism studies, annually interviewing over 10,000 foreign tourists visiting Finland. The company has conducted numerous studies and surveys focused on tourism and the tourism economy.

– Active efforts are being made in Rauma to futher develop tourism. We will continue to acquire nationally comparable research data on the development of tourism revenue, Villanen adds.
