The city publishes a poster for the centenary of Old Rauma, designed by graphic artist Erik Bruun

To mark the 30th anniversary of Old Rauma as a World Heritage Site, the City of Rauma is publishing a poster designed by Erik Bruun, a well-known and respected Finnish graphic artist.
The poster playfully depicts the Old Town Hall, the Church of the Holy Cross in Rauma and the colourful wooden houses of Old Rauma. A postcard with the same illustration has also been produced.
Erik Bruun adapted the poster from a series of stamps depicting Finland’s World Heritage sites published in 2002. The City of Rauma has the opportunity to use the image in other products, says Mervi Tammi, Deputy World Heritage Coordinator.
Erik Bruun, who turned 95 this spring, has designed more than 500 posters, dozens of stamps, bookplates, banknotes, corporate and association stamps and the layout of numerous publications. The most famous examples of Bruun’s work are the Jaffa advertisement, the seal of the Nature Conservation Association Saimaa and the last banknote stamps.
Bruun, who lives in Suomenlinna, another World Heritage Site celebrating its second anniversary, congratulates Old Rauma on its anniversary and says that he was honoured to work on the poster.
The posters and postcards will be available from Monday 21 June at the renovation centre Tammela, the Pyyrman service point and the Town Hall museum shop Kistupuadi. The poster costs €16 and the postcard €2.
