A dock in Karttu, Reksaari.

Known as the pasture for the royal manor of Rauma and a marketplace since the Middle Ages, the island covers an area of approximately 300 hectares. Part of the northern archipelago of Rauma, it is the oldest tourist island in Rauma.

The island is said to have gotten its name from a sled left on the shore by a fur trader who traveled over the ice and fell in love with a farmer’s daughter living on the island, deciding not to return home. The island, suitable as a family excursion destination, features hiking trails that follow the shoreline and then dive into pleasant forest landscapes.
