The festive spirit of Lace Week fills the city of Rauma from July 19 to 27, 2025
News

This summer marks the 55th edition of Rauma Lace Week, taking place from July 19 to 27, 2025. The city festival offers nine days of diverse program for people of all ages—locals and visitors alike. Nearly 300 events will be held across the city, with more than 100 organizers ranging from private individuals to associations and businesses.
– Year after year, we’re delighted by how many local actors enthusiastically take part in Lace Week. It’s truly a celebration for the whole city, says Outi Lehtorinne, the city’s Executive Cultural Producer.
Charming Events for the Whole Family
Every day of Lace Week includes programs specifically designed for young children. Family-friendly activities include hobbyhorse competitions, creative workshops, a plush toy clinic, and various storytelling and art sessions at different venues. Museum tours offer kids adventures like treasure hunts with Kosti the Fox, lace-themed puzzles, and maritime explorations with the sailor Valo. Note that most of the activities are held in Finnish.
Savilanpuisto Comes Alive with Music from Wednesday to Friday
Lace Week’s youth event Youth of Savila will take place on Wednesday, featuring popular Finnish artists Sara Bee, ANI, and Averagekidluke. On Thursday, the traditional Miss Lace competition will be held on the Savila stage, followed by a concert from the Rauma City Band with soloist Pepe Willberg.
Friday brings a full day of performances in Savilanpuisto, from morning until late evening. Acts include ventriloquist Sari Aalto, the children’s metal band Hevisaurus, a dance and sound art performance by Iida & René, and Josén Pimeä Puoli. The evening culminates in a performance by Suvi Teräsniska, one of Finland’s brightest music stars. The concert area in Savilanpuisto is open to everyone, free of charge, and alcohol-free. Accessibility will be improved this year with a larger viewing platform for people with reduced mobility.
Traditional and New Experiences Across the City
The beloved traditions of Lace Week include intricate lace exhibitions at Poselli, as well as various bobbin lace courses and demonstrations. The popular Old Rauma open courtyards and yard sales are available throughout the nine days of the festival. Many local artists and craftspeople will also open their studios to the public during the week.
The program features guided tours, picnic events, community sing-alongs, and outdoor activities in nature.
Events extend beyond the city center to coastal areas, Lappi village, and Kodisjoki.
– Highlights outside the city center include the performance by Häplänperän Valittajat at Sammallahdenmäki, a themed day on plant-based dyeing, and a waffle café at Sepän Torppa in Kodisjoki. Coastal venues also offer fantastic music and art experiences, so be sure to find your favorites, says cultural producer Satu Ruotsalainen.
Market Buzz Takes Over the City Center
This year, the Handicraft Market returns to Kalatori square, where handmade crafts and artisan goods will be available on Friday, July 25 from 12–10 PM and Saturday, July 26 from 10 AM–4 PM.
The International Grand Market will take place from Wednesday to Saturday during Lace Week. This year’s theme is “A Culinary Journey Around the World.” Vendors from over 30 countries will offer a record-breaking selection of international foods and treats. The International Grand Market will be open Wednesday to Thursday (July 23–24) from 10 AM–8 PM, Friday (July 25) from 10 AM–12 AM, and Saturday (July 26) from 10 AM–6 PM.
