The entire program of Rauma Lace Week has been announced

People in Kauppakatu street during the Lace Week.

Rauma Lace Week will be held from the 17th of July to the 25th of July, for the 51st time. Despite these exceptional times, the program of the event is extensive and full of art. The much-wished live music will flourish again in the evening concerts of the Lace Week courtyard parties, which feature wonderful performers and creators of Finnish music.

– Our city festival started with lace exhibitions organized at the Rauma Art Museum five decades ago. This year, the Lace Week celebrates throughout the week with the 51-year-old art museum as part of the yard parties. The concerts feature multi-themed music and the highlights of the day’s program revolve around the core of the Lace Week. The evening concerts will be held in the courtyard of the art museum with a limited number of seats, says Leila Stenfors, the executive cultural producer of the City of Rauma.

Let’s jam at the yard party

The program for the Lace Week yard party is divided into two parts. During the day, the art museum’s courtyard is full of activities from performances to workshops. The main theme of the handicraft program is recycling and reusing materials. The theme is reflected in the contents of various lectures, speeches, work shows and workshops.

– Recycled materials are used to make hair donuts, denim accessories and tune clothing. Guidance and lectures will be given by clothing designer Aija Rouhiainen, Tuunaajamutsi and Taito Satakunta’s handicraft advisors, among others. During the handicraft program, local performers delight the audience with their performances, Stenfors explains.

The free evening concerts of the Lace Week can accommodate 160 viewers. Reservations must be made in advance. Seats can be reserved per concert from the 5th of July from 9 a.m. in the City of Rauma’s online store or by calling the city’s customer service point Pyyrman, tel. +358 2 834 5000. If there are still seats available on the event day, viewers may be admitted to the concert on a first come, first served basis.

The program is available on the Lace Week website

The performers and the comprehensive program can be found on the Lace Week’s website pitsiviikko.fi. The entire program of the event is organized on the website in daily order, but is also divided into four familiar categories – events and occasions, lace and handicraft exhibitions, museums, and artists’ studios and art exhibitions.

– During the Lace Week, it is worth exploring the exhibitions of the Rauma museums, visiting charming and interesting artist locations, admiring lace in numerous exhibitions and enjoying the small and big events of the city festival, which spreads around the summery city, Leila Stenfors says.

The Lace Week takes safety seriously and follows the development of the corona situation. The organizers and performers of the Lace Week are committed to following any required safety instructions. Visitors are also required to follow the issued instructions and to act in accordance with the arrangements to ensure common safety.
