Specialist Museums are open during the Lace Week

During the Rauma Lace Week, the city offers specialist museums that are open only rarely. It is worth visiting the Rauma Potters’ Workshop, the Old Rauma Telephone Museum and the Camera Museum.

The Rauma Potters’ Workshop (Nummenkatu 14) is open from the 19th of July to the 23rd July, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance fee is voluntary. The main product of the potter Gustaf Löfman’s workshop has been glazed oven tiles. For fire safety reasons, the potters’ offices had to be located outside the city, and Löfman’s workshop is a few hundred meters from the old town. The workshop with its ovens, furniture and product samples has been preserved in its original state.

The Old Rauma Telephone Museum (Eteläpitkäkatu 22) shows a private collector’s own collection. The exhibition presents telephone history in the form of speech machines and other material in the courtyard’s atmospheric space. The collection is based on material collected over 50 years. In the museum, you can see and try out the technology of the past. The museum can accommodate up to 10 people. The Telephone Museum is open from the 17th of July. to the 25th of July, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Camera Museum (Isokatu 8) displays a wide range of cameras, film machines, lenses and accessories from Daquero to digital technology. The earliest objects are from the 19th century and the newest from the 1990’s. The Camera Museum is open from the 17th of July. to the 25th of July, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
