Lappi DiscGolfPark has opened

Lappi DiscGolfPark, Rauma’s newest frisbee golf course, has opened. The track is located near the Lappi sports field at Hinnerjoentie 24.

The 18-hole course was designed by DiscGolfPark’s course designer and two-time Finnish Frisbee golf champion Pasi Koivu. The track is built with volunteer work. Maintenance is taken care of by the Sports Club Lapin Salama.

– The new frisbee golf course nicely complements the sports opportunities in Lappi and the whole of Rauma. The popularity of the sport has grown enormously in recent years, so there is a demand for new fields, says Rauma’s Director of Sports Ari Rajamäki.

The track is versatile and varied. Most of the paths are located in the forest, but there are also open meadow sections. The lengths of the fairways vary between 64 and 238 meters.

– The transitions between lanes are short and clear. All structures, such as tee´s, stairs and bridges, are made of high quality. Wind bags have been placed on the meadows to make throwing easier. A visitor counter will be installed on the track during the summer, says Juha Into, the coordinator of Lapin Salama’s project.

Finishing work on the track is still going on, but the track is fully in playable condition. The opening race will be held in conjunction with Lapin Löylypäivät on Sunday, August 6.

Leader money intended for rural development and sponsor money from local companies and organizations have been received for the construction of the track.
