Exhibitions of Rauma Museum and Rauma Art Museum will open in June

Rauma Museum and Rauma Art Museum will open their doors for public in June. Lockdown made some changes to museums’ exhibition calendars. Despite the abnormal spring, there will be a new exhibitions in Old Town Hall Museum and Marela.

Summer in Rauma Museum

New exhibition “Old Town Hall 100 years ago” will open on Monday 1.6. in Old Town Hall Museum (Kauppakatu 13). Exhibition displays the museum’s exhibition activities from around 100 years ago. The exhibition is open until the fall.

“From Thella’s era to modern day Lace Week” exhibition will open on Tuesday 2.6. in Marela (Kauppakatu 24). This exhibition continues the museum’s series of exhibitions on the history of lace making in Rauma. The exhibition showcases Rauma bobbin lace from the early 1900s until the late 1960s.

Summer in Rauma Art Museum

The Rauma Art Museum (Kuninkaankatu 37) will open also on Tuesday 2.6. Exhibitions “The Closed-down Village” by Hanna Koikkalainen and “Kannas (The Isthmus)” by Hanneriina Moisseinen continue until 9.8. The Rauma Art Museum’s exhibitions are also online.

Artist Anna Eriksson’s exhibition “M” has been postponed to the fall. It will open for public on Saturday 5.9. and it is available until 22.11. This artwork is an original study on the connection between feminine sexuality and death.

The 50-year-old Rauma Art Museum’s jubilee exhibition is “Kosti Koskinen – Comments on the Diary of a Common Man”. The exhibition will open on December 12th. The exhibition offers insights on marginal history, on the everyday realism and the zeitgeist of the life of an artist, as well as on the production of Kosti Koskinen, who was talented in many different fields of art.
