August is the time for festivals in Rauma

July and the Lace Week may have come and gone, but Rauma is filled with events in August as well. This on-going week is rewarding especially for everyone who enjoys music. On Tuesday 8.8. the chamber music festival Festivo had its opening day, and you can enjoy Festivo’s concerts all week until Saturday 12.8. Along with the paid concerts there are plenty of free cafe-, and open yard concerts in Old Rauma. You can buy the tickets for the payed concerts from Service point Pyyrman (Valtakatu 2 A). The two-day Rauma Blues festival entertains people from Friday to Saturday on 11.8.-12.8. On Saturday the main performer of the event, a guitar legend Eric Gales takes the stage in Parpansali park. Next week the culture experiences in Rauma continue with another art form when Blue Sea Film Festival, arranged from Thursday to Sunday 17.8.-20.8, brings plenty of interesting films from Finland and abroad to the movie theater Iso-Hannu.  During the film festival you can also enjoy old 35 mm films in the culture house Poselli. On Sunday they will run the Aki Kaurismäki film Toivon tuolla puolen, which was awarded for the best directing at the Berlin film festival. You can pick up your hand program for the film festival from the Service point Pyyrman (Valtakatu 2 A), or from the Old Town Hall (Kauppakatu 13).
